● To connect and support service users to engage with services in their local communities to build on their recovery capital. ● To attend groups/activities/agencies with individuals initially and until they are able to attend without support. ● To facilitate and lead on a range of groups/activities available in the community. ● To ensure any lone working is risk assessed and managed with service staff, in line with policies and procedures. ● Ensure service users know about their rights

Detailed Description

1. A Peer Mentor Volunteer is “An individual who willingly offers their time, skills, and services to help others or contribute to a cause without expecting financial compensation. They usually participate in activities such as community service, charitable work, or event support. Their primary motivation is typically to make a positive impact, give back to the community, or support a mission they believe in. Volunteers are driven by altruism, a sense of responsibility, or personal fulfilment from contributing to the well-being of others. Some volunteers may have lived experience of the services they are working in. ” Peer Mentor Volunteers (PMV) will support service users through their recovery journey and phases of treatment. There are three different volunteering roles based both in our treatment services and also our recovery community: Types of Roles: 1. Service PMV - based in core treatment services 2. Community PMV - based in community settings and services 3. Service Administrator PMV - based across all treatment services Peer Mentor Volunteer (PMV’s) Role Criteria ● Commitment of 4 hours, for at least 1 day a week , maximum of 2 days a week , for a minimum of 6 months. ● Currently not in substance misuse treatment. ● If previously in substance misuse treatment, must be at least 9 months abstinent from alcohol and illicit substances. ● Consent to undertake all necessary Mandatory Training prior to starting. ● Consent to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) and provide 2 x references to be taken up prior to starting.
