Passenger Assistance (Community Minibuses)

We hire community minibuses that offer people the opportunity to get out to the wider community on our excursions andtransport to groups at the Centre. For some of our clients this could be the only opportunity they have to get out and we therefore provide an essential role to help reduce isolation and loneliness. Your role will be vital in the support of the driver, who you will work with on each trip supporting clients on and off the minibuses and into their home.
This role will put you at the heart of our local community helping to support people who use our community transport services. You will need to be physically active and willing to be flexible in your approach to dealing with people. A warm, friendly approach is always helpful but with the ability to understand the need to of each person you deal with. Community transport offers people the opportunity to get out to the wider community on our excursions and or transoprt to the Centre. For some of our clients this could be the only opportunity they have to get out and we therefore provide an essential role to help reduce isolation and loneliness. Your role will be vital in the support of the driver, who you will work with on each trip. The role will involve: • Assisting clients on and off of the vehicle • Assisting with carrying shopping into people homes • Opening/closing the doors of the vehicle and ensuring the passenger step is lowered. We will offer full guidance in all aspects of the role and because of the nature of the activity you will need to have a reasonable level of health/fitness. Age should not be a barrier to this role as many of our volunteers are over the age of 65. One of the benefits of supporting clients on our excursions is that you get out and about with them to visiting local places of interest, pub lunches, gardens centres and trips to the coast.

You will need a general level of health and fitness as this is a relatively, physically active role. A keen eye for health and safety issues would be helpful but we can offer full guidance on this.
A role that will immerse you in the local community it will give you a chance to feel that you are giving something back to the community. You will also benefit from being part of each excursion to places of interest.

We are easily found about 2 minutes walk from Hampton Hill High Street. There are several buses including the R70, R68 & 285 that stop in the High Street.
