We are looking for volunteers interested in forming a local sponsorship group to welcome displaced Afghan families to London. Our project sees ordinary people come together to welcome Afghan refugee families to their local areas. Sponsorship groups consist of volunteers from community or faith organisations, or are made up of friends and neighbours who want to directly help displaced families. Volunteers must be 18+, UK citizens and be ready to meet the challenges of helping a displaced family settle into unfamiliar surroundings. All costs are covered by the project - no fundraising required!

Once set up, sponsorship groups support families with the essential, everyday tasks associated with settling into a new country and city: volunteers could be assisting a family to find suitable housing, supporting them to arrange appointments or register for services, welcoming them on arrival to the area, or helping them to build connections and a sense of belonging here in London
