The purpose of this role is to provide much needed doorstep social visits, and short guided support walks near people’s homes. The aim of the role is to provide socialisation and activity to those who are isolated at home due to a long term health condition or disability.

Detailed Description

The purpose of this role is to provide doorstep social visits, and short guided support walks near people’s homes. The aim of the role is to provide socialisation and activity to those who are isolated at home due to a long term health condition or disability. There are 2 strands to this role:- • Doorstep natters – for those less mobile and lacking in confidence/ability to venture out initially. The aim is to encourage these clients to get to progress to 1-2-1 confidence walks where possible. • 1-2-1 confidence walks – for those who can be encouraged to walk locally in their street, around their block, to the local shops to combat social isolation and build physical movement into their weekly routine. These clients may be progressed to community voluntary sector provision where possible.

Time Commitment

We ask for a regular session of around 30 minutes on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, according to the particular client’s needs. Hours to be agreed between the client and volunteer.
