Steering Committee Secretary & Summit Representative
Educating Beyond Borders
Help coordinate the Floating Campus Summit Steering Committee and represent the Summit externally.
Educating Beyond Borders is looking for an organised, confident volunteer to join the Steering Committee for our Floating Campus Summit. You’ll coordinate meetings, records and communications, support the Chair, handle routine Summit correspondence and represent the committee at the Summit, welcoming guests and partners. This is a strategic community role, not conventional event administration. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building, takes initiative and is comfortable with flexibility and ambiguity. London-based, hybrid/remote; 2–4 hours per week plus the Summit.
Administration,Trusteeships & Committees
Admin, Organising & Planning, Reading & Writing
We are looking for an organised, reliable and confident individual who can coordinate a small strategic committee and communicate comfortably with senior professionals. The ideal volunteer will have experience in committee administration, project coordination, events, business administration, governance or a similar environment. You should be able to keep accurate records, follow up actions, coordinate people and maintain clear communication. You should also be comfortable representing an organisation externally and welcoming senior guests and partners. Access to a suitable London address for receiving routine Summit correspondence is desirable. Experience working with entrepreneurs, businesses, education or community organisations would be useful.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to an ambitious initiative focused on improving education and creating meaningful pathways into entrepreneurship and opportunity. As part of the Steering Committee, you will have a genuine voice in helping shape the Floating Campus Summit and The Big Challenge, rather than simply supporting an event from the sidelines. You will become part of the wider Educating Beyond Borders community, with opportunities to meet entrepreneurs, educators, businesses, community leaders and others who share an interest in creating meaningful change through education and enterprise. You will also have opportunities to participate in relevant Educating Beyond Borders community activities and events, and to build relationships with people working across different sectors and communities. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to contribute your time, judgement and ideas to something being built for the long term. We are looking for people who care about the purpose of the work and want to help make it successful.
The expected commitment is approximately 2–4 hours per week, plus attendance at the Floating Campus Summit. The Secretary will have a more regular role than other Steering Committee members because they will coordinate meetings, records, communications and routine correspondence. The workload may increase temporarily around major Summit milestones or when additional committee coordination is required. We will agree meetings and key deadlines in advance wherever possible.
