Befrienders visit monthly to build a one-to-one connection and reduce isolation.
MTC Together is a befriending service for people with a learning disability, who are registered with the Mencap Trust Company. We match the skills and interests of passionate befrienders with the specific needs, hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Befrienders visit every month to create a 1-2-1 connection, help enhance social connections, reducing isolation, encouraging interests and support access to local community activities and resources. For this role we're looking for a young, female befriender to visit a young woman to enjoy activities in the local area.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like: Community activities like open days or festivals Going out for a meal/drink Going to the cinema or to a local theatre show Doing an activity at home As a Mencap befriender you will be: Friendly and approachable Accepting of other who might be different to yourself Reliable and patient Passionate about supporting people with a learning disability
As Mencap befriender you have the opportunity to help make a difference to the life of the person you visit. You will receive a personalised volunteer induction and training, have agreed out of pocket expenses reimbursed, meet new people, get on-going support and feel appreciated and valued.
Flexible dates/times. These would be monthly visits, and each visit is usually a couple of hours. It would be up to you and the beneficiary to decide dates and times.
