Support SEND children and young people to build skills, confidence and independence in Sidcup.
Sirens & Sparkles First Aid CIC is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers aged 18+ to support our inclusive SEND youth clubs in Sidcup. 🐢 Sea Turtles – ages 5–10, Saturday afternoons 🦦 Otters – ages 11–17, Thursday evenings Volunteer with one club or both. Youth Leaders help members take part in fun, practical activities including first aid, safety, communication and life skills, while building confidence and independence. No previous SEND or first aid experience is required. Training and support, including safeguarding and first aid, will be provided.

Knowledge or understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is preferred but not essential. This may come from work, volunteering, education, caring responsibilities or lived experience. Training and support will be provided. We are looking for someone who is: • Friendly, patient, reliable and approachable • Able to work well as part of an inclusive team, including alongside Leaders and volunteers with SEND • Respectful of different communication styles, needs and abilities • Understanding that disability and neurodivergence can affect how people communicate, process information and interact with others • Willing to ask for clarification rather than make assumptions about another person's communication or intentions • Able to adapt their communication and approach to individual members • Calm and supportive when someone needs additional help • Willing to learn and follow safeguarding and club procedures Experience in SEND, education, youth work, childcare, health or social care is welcomed but not required. Previous first aid experience is not required, as relevant training will be provided.
As part of our volunteer team, you will: • Receive training and ongoing support • Receive first aid and safeguarding training relevant to your role • Gain valuable experience supporting children and young people with SEND • Develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills • Build confidence and practical experience in an inclusive youth club environment • Gain experience that may support future study, employment or careers in education, youth work, childcare, health and social care • Meet new people and become part of a friendly, inclusive volunteer team • Receive recognition for your contribution through our Volunteer Long Service Awards, including certificates and service pin badges at key milestones • Have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people in your local community Reasonable adjustments can be discussed to help make your volunteering experience accessible and supportive.
Our clubs run weekly during term time: • Thursday evenings – Otters (ages 11–17) • Saturday afternoons – Sea Turtles (ages 5–10) Volunteers can choose to support one club or both, depending on their availability and preferred age group. We ask volunteers to commit regularly to their chosen club wherever possible, as consistency helps our members build positive and trusting relationships with the volunteer team. Occasional absence is understood; we simply ask volunteers to let us know in advance wherever possible.

By Train: Sidcup Station is approximately a 14-minute (0.6 mile) walk. Exit towards Station Road and follow Station Road towards Sidcup High Street. By Bus: Routes 51, 160, 229, 269, 286, 321 and SL3 serve Sidcup. Alight at Sidcup/Carlton Road or Sidcup High Street/Station Road. Landmark: We are located inside the Sidcup Library building on the High Street, approximately a 2-minute walk from the old Sidcup Police Station. Parking: There is no dedicated visitor parking at the building. Pay & Display parking is available at 108 Main Road Car Park, approximately a 2-minute walk away. Limited paid and free street parking is also available on surrounding roads, including St John's Road.
