Join Sirens & Sparkles as a Youth Helper with our Sea Turtles SEND club for children aged 5–10 in Sidcup. 🐢 Sea Turtles – ages 5–10 🗓️ Saturday afternoons Work alongside the Club Manager and Youth Leaders, helping younger members enjoy practical activities including first aid, safety, communication, creativity and life skills. You will always work with adult volunteers and will not be responsible for running the club or supervising members alone. No experience is needed. Training and support are provided. Open to ages 14–17.

No previous volunteering, SEND or first aid experience is needed. Experience or understanding of SEND is welcome but not essential. This could come from school, college, family, caring, volunteering or your own life experience. We are looking for someone who is: + friendly and patient + reliable and willing to learn + happy to work as part of a team + respectful of different needs, abilities and ways of communicating + comfortable asking an adult for help when needed Youth Helpers work alongside the Club Manager and Youth Leaders and will always have adult support. Youth Helpers aged 14–17 will not be responsible for supervising members, managing difficult situations alone or running club sessions.
Volunteering with Sirens & Sparkles is a chance to gain experience, learn new skills and build your confidence while helping younger children. You can: + develop communication and teamwork skills + learn first aid and other useful skills + gain experience supporting children, including children with SEND + build confidence and responsibility + gain experience for college, future volunteering or employment + meet new people and be part of a friendly, inclusive team + take part in training and development opportunities + receive recognition through our Volunteer Service Awards You will receive support and guidance throughout your volunteering, so you do not need previous experience to get started.
Sea Turtles meets on Saturday afternoons during term time. We ask Youth Helpers to attend regularly wherever possible, as consistency helps our members become familiar with the volunteer team and build positive, trusting relationships. We understand that volunteers aged 14–17 may have school, exams, family commitments and other activities, so occasional absence is absolutely fine. We simply ask volunteers to let us know in advance wherever possible. Volunteers will also need to attend induction and required training.

By Train: Sidcup Station is approximately a 14-minute (0.6 mile) walk. Exit towards Station Road and follow Station Road towards Sidcup High Street. By Bus: Routes 51, 160, 229, 269, 286, 321 and SL3 serve Sidcup. Alight at Sidcup/Carlton Road or Sidcup High Street/Station Road. Landmark: We are located inside the Sidcup Library building on the High Street, approximately a 2-minute walk from the old Sidcup Police Station. Parking: There is no dedicated visitor parking at the building. Pay & Display parking is available at 108 Main Road Car Park, approximately a 2-minute walk away. Limited paid and free street parking is also available on surrounding roads, including St John's Road.
