Young Lives vs Cancer

Our Voice Board brings together members of our community to help shape everything we do as a charity

Detailed Description

To ensure the voices of children, young people, and their families with lived experience of cancer are at the heart of our work. We’d love to hear a wide range of perspectives and applications are open for young people who have or have had cancer, as well as parents, carers, partners and siblings (applicants need to be 16 or older). If you’re passionate about improving the lives of children, young people and families affected by cancer and want to help influence decisions at Young Lives vs Cancer, we’d love to hear from you.

Why these skills are required

Expectations: - Be aged over 16 - Been diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 0-24, or are a parent/ carer / partner or sibling of a young person who was diagnosed between the ages of 0-24 - Be happy to commit to the role for two years - Please note we have specific policies and procedures relating to protecting and supporting young volunteers. For this opportunity if you are aged under 18 years you will need a parent/guardian to accompany/supervise you when you volunteer. - A criminal records check  is not required for this role, but we will ask you for some basic personal details and you will need to provide two references (one professional and one character) so we can register your volunteering.

Time Commitment

Regular commitment for a two year term. Home based with most meetings taking place online. We will also hold 2 in person meetings per year and will book all travel and accommodation to support this.
