Charity Shop Assistant - Stamford Hill

We are looking for people newly retired, people who have had a career break, or people starting off on their career path. Volunteering in our shops will give you work experience to enhance your CV. You will feel part of our shop team, supporting the local community and assist us greatly to raise money for the charities we support. We raise money for around 50 different local charities each year. You will learn about customer care and engagement and merchandising in a business environment.

Detailed Description

All Aboard are looking for volunteers to assist in our busy second hand charity shop. Are you keen on recycling? Do you believe it’s a good idea that clothes and household goods are not thrown away but used by someone else? Are you creative? Do you enjoy sorting, ordering and arranging things to maximize selling opportunities? Do you enjoy working in a team and interacting with people? We are looking for people of all ages (minimum 16+) who have all or some of these positive attributes who are looking to join our shop. Reliable and consistent volunteer help in the shop is vitally important. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable dealing with the public, be happy to use a till and accept gift aid donations (we will give you full training if you have not done these before) and be happy to help out generally in the shop sorting and preparing stock for sale. We welcome self-starters who are able to use their initiative under the guidance of the shop manager. A full role description will be given to you. The key thing is that you will need to have a regular weekly slot to give us.

Why these skills are required

No prior experience is necessary but you will need to work as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with the public. Full training will be given, particularly for till work, gift aid and health and safety.

What is in it for you

This opportunity will give you insight into running a charity shop whilst contributing to our efforts to support local charities. You will learn skills such as customer care and engagement, working on the till and merchandising /display. Unfortunately we cannot reimburse travel or any other expenses.
