Playground Project Volunteer
London Play Design
Help us protect London's adventure playgrounds - vital community spaces for local children.
We exist to preserve children's right to play in exciting spaces where they can explore, learn, and make friends. You’ll support LPD staff and teams of corporate volunteers at our project delivery days in adventure playgrounds across London. You’ll help improve and build new play structures through simple carpentry & landscaping. You'll keep the day running smoothly, being on hand to help wherever you're needed. Tasks may include gardening, painting, tidying areas, and simple construction. You may also help take photos and videos of the day, so we can share the community impact of our work.

We welcome any student or recent graduate regardless of experience. All you need is a desire to help communities and the willingness to get stuck in to a range of tasks. Having construction experience (e.g. using power tools for home DIY) is a bonus, but by no means necessary.
You'll learn: - practical construction skills - skills in project management, teamwork, and creative problem-solving - the history and importance of London's adventure playgrounds You'll experience: - how community partnerships happen - how community-led design directly benefits local neighborhoods - how vital free play spaces are to local communities You'll meet: - playworkers and community leaders - other students and graduates - professionals from a range of industries
At least 3 days a month during our busy season (April, May, June, July and September). Most of our work happens on weekdays during term time.
