Free to Be run adventurous, nature based residentials for vulnerable young people.
As a Kitchen Crew volunteers volunteer you’ll stay on-site for 1 week, and ensure that our adventures are possible by creating nutritious meals for the children, running cooking workshops for the young people and you also have the option to go out on the activities too! You’ll spend your days singing along to the radio whilst you food prep with the other Kitchen Crew team members, going for walks to pick flowers to decorate the tables or just generally helping out with things around the site.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, regardless of their previous experience working with young people. No special skillset is required; we recognise the value of a team consisting of different personalities and strengths. If you are an empathetic, patient and adaptable person you will fare well on our projects. Please note that we can only accept volunteers aged 18 or over. We especially encourage applications from those who represent the lived experiences of our children through their own lived experience or background.
You will get the opportunity to work with some brilliant young people and make a tangible difference in their lives, whilst also working alongside incredible likeminded people! You will have the support of experienced volunteers and staff, who will check in with you daily to assess your current wellbeing on the project. You will also have access to a more in-depth discussion at the end of the week to reflect on your strengths and areas for improvement whilst volunteering with us. As well as all of that we will provide training in safeguarding, Food Hygiene Level 2 and Allergens Awareness training, with other training opportunities also available.
We ask that you commit to volunteering for a 7-day residential programme, where you will stay on site for the duration.
