Green School Runs

Trustee - Finance and accountancy Trustee - Education and schools Trustee - Fundraising and income generation

Detailed Description

Become a Trustee of Green School Runs Help us create safer streets, cleaner air and healthier journeys for children. Green School Runs - an educational charity based in the North of Camden - is looking for new trustees to join our board and help shape the future of our charity. Founded in 2017, Green School Runs works to make school journeys safer, healthier and more sustainable. We aim to reduce traffic and air pollution around schools while helping children walk, cycle, wheel and scoot safely and independently. We work with schools, families, residents, local authorities and community organisations to turn this vision into practical action. Our work combines campaigning and advocacy, research, education and the delivery of projects that promote active travel, improve air quality and create healthier neighbourhoods. As our charity continues to develop, we're looking to strengthen our board of trustees with people who can bring experience, fresh perspectives and new connections. Who are we looking for? We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance and accountancy Someone with accountancy or financial management experience who can help oversee our finances, support budgeting and financial planning, and ensure good financial governance. Education and schools Someone with experience of working in or with schools, who understands the education sector and can help us strengthen relationships with schools, teachers, parents and school communities. Fundraising and income generation Someone with experience of fundraising, grant applications, corporate partnerships or developing relationships with potential funders, who can help us build a more sustainable funding base. You don't need to have previous trustee experience. We welcome people who are enthusiastic about our mission and are willing to contribute their skills, knowledge and time. What does being a trustee involve? As a trustee, you will: Help shape the charity's strategy, priorities and future direction. Provide advice, guidance and support to the team. Contribute your professional expertise and wider networks. Help ensure the charity is well governed and financially sustainable. Take part in regular board meetings and occasional discussions or activities between meetings. What does this mean in practice? This is an unpaid position, and no financial compensation is provided. The board meets approximately 4–6 times a year, with meetings lasting around 1.5 hours. Most meetings are held remotely in the evening, with one or two in-person meetings each year. Depending on your area of expertise and personal interests, you may also be asked to contribute an additional 1–2 hours per month to specific tasks or activities. We are a small, friendly and collaborative group, and we're looking for people who share this approach and enjoy working together. Why join us? This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the communities in Camden and help create neighbourhoods where children can travel more safely and independently, breathing cleaner air. You'll be joining a committed and collaborative team working on issues that matter: children's health, road safety, air quality, active travel and the future of our streets. Interested? We'd love to hear from you! If you think you could bring something valuable to Green School Runs, or know someone who might be interested, please get in touch.
