Accountant & Bookkeeper

As Four Square Partners scales its property portfolio and operational footprint, we are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Volunteer Accountant & Bookkeeper to support our core finance functions. This role is essential for maintaining robust financial controls, keeping accurate records, and supporting fiscal transparency as we manage complex property conversion projects and council partnerships.
Bookkeeping & Ledgers: Maintain accurate day-to-day financial records, including tracking project expenditures, operating costs, vendor invoices, and incoming funds. Bank & Account Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, track contractor and partner payments, and assist with financial administration. Financial Reporting Support: Assist in drafting periodic management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance analyses for leadership. Project Cost Tracking: Help allocate and track project-specific costs associated with building conversions and local authority schemes. Compliance & Record Keeping: Ensure all financial documentation is neatly organized and maintained in compliance with CIC regulations and UK accounting standards.
Finance & Accountancy
Basic IT skills - internet & email, Bookkeeping & Finance
Essential Background, education, or professional experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related field (e.g., studying toward AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent practical experience). Proficiency in cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets. High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong numerical skills. Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and integrity. Alignment with Four Square Partners’ mission to address London's housing crisis through innovative property reuse. Desirable Prior experience working with property management accounts, social enterprises, or non-profit/CIC financial structures. Familiarity with UK company filing requirements for Community Interest Companies.
