Bucket collections to support people with sight loss.
As a Bucket Collection Volunteer, you will play an essential role in helping raise vital funds that directly support people living with sight loss. Stationed at a busy London Underground location, you will engage warmly and confidently with commuters, encouraging donations while representing the charity in a positive and approachable manner. Your friendly presence and willingness to connect with the public will help increase awareness of inherited sight loss and contribute to the charity’s mission. Please note: Travel Expenses are not covered.

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be engaging with a wide range of commuters in a friendly and approachable manner. You should be comfortable initiating conversations, maintaining a positive attitude, and representing the charity professionally in a busy public environment. Effective people skills, including active listening, empathy, and the ability to create a warm connection quickly, are essential. You will also demonstrate confidence and resilience, staying motivated throughout your shift and responding calmly to different public interactions. Good teamwork is important, as you may work alongside other volunteers to maximise impact. Reliability, punctuality, and a sense of responsibility are key, ensuring that the charity is presented with enthusiasm and integrity. This role helps develop and highlight skills in public engagement, communication, confidence-building, community interaction, and charity representation—all valuable in both personal and professional settings.

This role is flexible, and volunteers are welcome to give as much or as little time as they can. Bucket collection shifts typically last a few hours, and you may choose a time slot that best suits your schedule. There is no long‑term commitment required — even a single shift makes a meaningful difference. We simply ask that volunteers arrive on time for their chosen slot and let us know in advance if any adjustments are needed.
