Social Enterprise Support Worker

Supports our market stall selling coffee and supports SEND young adults to gain work experience.

Detailed Description

This role leads the daily running of Bromley Mencap’s social enterprise market stall on Bromley High Street every Thursday and Friday, 9am-5pm, supporting SEND young adults to gain real work experience brewing & selling coffee. It includes loading and transporting equipment, setting up the stall, supervising trainee shifts, ensuring safety and food hygiene, managing stock and EPOS, and delivering warm, inclusive customer service while promoting our social mission and building strong links with local traders and the community.

Why these skills are required

Skills the volunteer will need: - Friendly and patient – able to chat with trainees and customers in a warm, supportive way. -Comfortable supporting young adults with disabilities – kind, encouraging, and able to give gentle guidance with tasks. - Reliable – turns up on time and can commit to agreed days. - Happy to help – supports simple tasks like setting up, tidying, topping up stock and keeping the stall presentable. - Good communicator – gives clear, calm instructions when needed. - Comfortable outdoors – okay working in different weather on the High Street. - Safety‑aware – follows basic food hygiene and listens to the Coordinator. - Team player – works well alongside staff, trainees and other volunteers. - Coffee‑making skills are a bonus, not essential – we can teach the basics on site.

Time Commitment

9am-5pm Thursdays and Fridays from 9/10th April 2026 for 6 months.
