Role Detail

Volunteering Manager

EcoCounts

Can you recruit and manage a team of volunteers to help run our volunteer-based climate action group? We are community-based and volunteer-led, and we need someone to focus on finding and keeping us all engaged and feeling appreciated - a mighty but rewarding challenge :)

Detailed Description

What will you be doing? We are currently small, volunteer-led, agile, pragmatic and ambitious. We achieve what we do with minimal funds, with activities ranging from carbon footprint data collection to developing an app, fundraising, writing articles, social media and running workshops. Your responsibilities: · Work with EcoCounts leaders to turn each piece of work into a clear volunteer role, with a short description of what is expected. · Post those roles on the volunteer recruitment hubs (Reach, Voluntary Action Islington and similar), and pass them to our social media and newsletter team. · Answer applicants promptly, tell them what the role involves, answer their initial questions with a call or a meeting. · Bring new volunteers to our Monday evening meet-ups and introduce them to the group. · Make sure each one is briefed on their role and on EcoCounts itself, so they can find their place and get started. · Keep the volunteer register and the Trello board current, so we know who is active on what. · Feed back what works, what doesn’t, what we need and where we need change. · Training provided via reading material, videos and in-depth on-boarding sessions. What are we looking for? 1. A people-person, comfortable communicating with volunteers one-to-one and as a group. 2. Organised enough to keep a register and a set of live applications straight. 3. Someone who is willing to do a deep dive into EcoCounts and agrees with us that we have an approach that has the potential to change the way society deals with the climate crisis There are two important things we need: · You live in Westminster, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Haringey or the City. Our whole model depends on local roots. If you are outside these boroughs, it’ll be much more difficult to bring what this role needs. · You're free most Monday evenings. We meet in person, every week, and that rhythm is why a volunteer-led group with almost no money gets as much done as we do. It's also where the momentum and the friendships come from.
