Become an EcoCounts In-house Journalist and help tell the stories behind local climate action. EcoCounts is a grassroots climate organisation based in North London, helping people and organisations reduce their carbon footprints through practical community action. We're looking for a volunteer who enjoys writing and communicating ideas clearly. You'll gather updates from our volunteers and project leads, attend occasional EcoCounts Monday meetings, and turn sustainability projects, events and achievements into engaging newsletters and stories. You'll help keep our community informed, connected and inspired by producing: A weekly newsletter for volunteers and participants. A monthly public newsletter highlighting our impact. Clear and engaging stories about our projects, events and people. Most of the role can be carried out remotely, with occasional attendance at EcoCounts Monday meetings in North London. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in journalism, communications and community engagement while contributing to meaningful environmental change.

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Reading & Writing
Strong written English, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good organisational skills, storytelling and content writing. An interest in sustainability, climate action and community engagement is desirable.
Flexible remote volunteering, mentoring and support, practical experience in journalism and communications, the opportunity to build your portfolio, develop professional writing skills, meet inspiring people and contribute to real climate action.

The writing can be completed remotely, while attending EcoCounts Monday meetings in North London – currently St Luke’s Church, N7 9JS - will help you build relationships, gather stories and better understand the projects and people behind them.
