Treasurer
Women at the Well
Women@theWell is a Catholic charity which provides support to women facing exploitation in prostitution, and which is committed to the abolition of prostitution and sexual exploitation in the long term. We are recruiting new trustees to join our friendly and energetic Board, and we need a new Treasurer among them.
As well as fulfilling the normal responsibilities of a Trustee, the Treasurer’s role is to maintain an overview of W@W’s financial affairs. The Board holds collective responsibility for these matters while the Treasurer is the team member who leads on reviewing financial measures, controls, procedures and forecasts, ensuring that they are effective and appropriate, and reporting to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. Who we are looking for someone who is: • A finance professional with recent experience. A knowledge of charity finance or small charity practice would be an advantage; • A good communicator, able to bring financial information alive to non-finance specialists; • A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity; • Ready to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors; • Committed to the values and mission of Women@theWell; • Able to listen, question, deliberate, and plan, collectively and collaboratively; • Willing to learn about, or has experience with, the work of a small charity trustee board; • Willing to play an active role in the Board’s collective responsibilities and over time offer or develop skills in an area the board may need.
