The Snack Trolley offers free snacks to patients on the haematology wards to help aid nutrition and hydration. When in hospital it can be difficult for patients to be able to eat properly and to get the nutrition they need as they may have periods of not feeling hungry or wanting to eat the food on offer. This role is about enabling patients to be able to access snacks and food outside of mealtimes in order to eat better and get the nutrition they need. Proactively engaging and interacting with patients on haematology wards, offering them snacks and drinks from the trolley. Snacks also require monitoring to ensure that there is enough stock available and that all the items are being used. The main aspect of this role is patient facing and spent encouraging patients to use the trolley, but volunteers will also be involved in the support and running of the project with support and training from staff members. Volunteers should be able to give out charity materials about HCC, (on the trolley) to patients and families if appropriate.
