As a Music Studio Engineer Volunteer, you will volunteer in the music studio of a homelessness service once a month, supporting clients to create music of their own choice. You will inspire and engage clients and encourage their creativity.

Detailed Description

It is fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a Music Studio Engineer Volunteer you will be assisting clients with making music once a month where you will be volunteering at the music studio of a homelessness service. This will be led by what the clients want to do – but with encouragement and support from you. There is no recording equipment, so it would solely consist of supporting people to make use of the music studio space for now. Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role: Camden-Monday-Fridays, 11am-5pm, 6 hours once a month. What will I be doing? As a Music Studio Engineer Volunteer, you will volunteer in the music studio of a homelessness service once a month, supporting clients to create music of their own choice. You will inspire and engage clients and encourage their creativity. In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks: • Support clients to create music in a music studio setting • Encouraging conversations around music • Facilitating music sessions with groups of clients in an inclusive and empowering way. • Be flexible to the needs of the clients and evolve your role as needed (i.e. group work or 121) • Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times. Do I need to have any specific skills? • Experience of, or an interest in, in leading groups. • Interest or skills in music • Confidence in either leading a group or supporting a client 121 (with staff present) • A friendly personality, good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and motivation. • Great communication skills with a person-centred approach. • An understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact. • Genuine interest in and commitment to St Mungo’s work and client group. • An understanding of and commitment to diversity & equality. We particularly welcome applicants with lived experience.
