Volunteer to support Blind Ballroom classes
Step Change Studios
Volunteer to support ballroom dance classes for visually impaired people
Step Change Studios is an award-winning dance company. We are seeking volunteers (18+) to partner with our blind and partially sighted students (adults) in our weekly ballroom dance classes, and to accompany students as they walk between Holborn station and the class location. Classes are from 10am - 11.10am, and 11.25am - 12.30pm in London (WC2B 4PA). You can volunteer for one or both classes, and to support with either or both dancing in class or travel to and from classes.
Support Work
Managing People
Volunteers must have dance experience, and be able to pick up basic ballroom/Latin dance steps quickly, to support students in class. No prior experience is needed to assist with travel, but we are looking for volunteers who are warm and friendly with an attitude of adaptability.
This is a lovely opportunity to support people of all abilities to experience the joy of dancing, and to be part of building a positive and inclusive dance community. Additionally, there may be occasional opportunities to compete or perform with students (the next opportunity will be in May 2026, when students will be participating in a large competition in London).
The classes take place on Saturday mornings, from 10am - 11.10am, and 11.25am - 12.30pm. You can volunteer for one or both classes, and to support with either or both dancing in class or travel on either side of the classes. We ask that volunteers commit to attending regularly, though we accept that you may need to miss class occasionally.
