Charles Dickens Museum

Invigilate 48 Doughty Street (Dicken's home from 1837-1839) at the Charles Dickens Museum.

Detailed Description

Enhance the visitor experience by ensuring a high level of customer service and answering any questions visitors may have about Charles Dickens or the Museum. At the Musuem you will: 1. Be a presence on each level of the Museum 2. Assist in ensuring the safety and security of our collection and visitors. 3. Direct visitors around the Museum as required. 4. Answer any questions that the visitors have about Charles Dickens, the Museum and its collections. 5. Assist in implementing the fire evacuation procedure with primary regard to visitor and personal safety

Skills needed: 1. A friendly and helpful manner 2. Ability to commnicate effectively with a wide range of people 3. Ability or willingness to learn a range of information about Charles Dickens and Victorian London 4. A reasonable level of physical dexterity required to move around the mseum 5. Ability to build strong working relationships with staff and other volunteers

What is in it for you

Travel Expenses can be claimed for your shits at the museum. Organised reciprocal visits to other organisations. Volunteer Socials at least 3 times a year. Opporunites to volunteer for special events such as press nights, private hires etc.

Time Commitment

1 Weekly shift, maximum 4 hours from three time slots. 10am-2pm, 12pm-4pm and/or 1pm-5pm.
