Volunteer Listener – Space Women’s Listening Service

Join us as a Listening Volunteer and help provide a safe, non-clinical emotional support space for women in Merton. You’ll receive full training to offer compassionate listening in person, over the phone, or online. This is a deeply rewarding role where you’ll support women by giving them the time and space to be truly heard.

Detailed Description

Are you a great listener? Do you want to make a real impact on the lives of women in Merton? We are looking for women to join the Space Women’s Listening Service as Listening Volunteers. This role provides a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space where women can share their thoughts and be truly heard. You’ll receive full training to help you offer emotional support – no advice, no solutions, just a caring and empathetic presence. Your role may include: 💜 In-person Listening at Vestry Hall (daytime/evenings), Cannons Leisure Centre (Monday mornings), or a Primary School in Pollards Hill (Tuesday mornings). 📞 Manning our Listening Line for telephone support. 💻 Hosting virtual listening sessions via Zoom. 🏡 Joining drop-in sessions in local community spaces near Mitcham. ✨ No prior experience needed – just an open heart and a willingness to listen.

Time Commitment

⏳ Flexible – Minimum 2-4 hours per week In-person opportunities available at: • Vestry Hall (Weekday evenings) • Canons Leisure Centre (Monday mornings) • Primary School in Pollards Hill (Tuesday mornings, 8:15-10:30 AM) 📞 Volunteers can also support via Listening Line (remote telephone support) or Virtual Listening Sessions (Zoom).
