Arts & community project with older adults in Lewisham, supporting creativity & connection
Volunteers at Meet Me at the Albany help create a welcoming, creative space for older adults in Lewisham. You’ll chat with members, serve tea and coffee, assist artists, and support participants to take part in arts activities like singing, painting, dance, and crafting. It’s a fun, social role where you’ll build connections, gain experience in community arts, and make a real difference in reducing loneliness while celebrating creativity and inclusion.

Personable and Friendly: We need volunteers who are approachable and easy to talk to. Strong Listening Skills: Essential for connecting with our members and ensuring their safety. Experience with Older Adults: While prior experience working with older people or supporting their creativity is beneficial, it’s not required—just an interest in doing so. Adaptable and Flexible: Activities may change, so volunteers should be open to adjusting their approach as needed. Creative Sharing (Optional): Some volunteers enjoy sharing their creativity with our members, but this is not a requirement.
Volunteering with Meet Me at the Albany is both meaningful and fun. Here’s what you can expect: * The joy of helping reduce loneliness and isolation in older people * New friendships and connections with a diverse community * Experience working alongside professional artists across multiple art forms * Regular volunteer socials and check-ins to support and thank you * A reference after 3 months of volunteering to support your future opportunities
