Wandsworth Community Projects Volunteer

BlindAid

BlindAid are seeking volunteers to support blind and visually impaired people attending our Wandsworth Community Project. Volunteers will have responsibility for greeting and helping to guide Service Users around the facility, assisting service users during classes and liaising with the Community Project Manager.

Detailed Description

BlindAid are running a community project, offering a Cooking & Healthy Eating support programme for blind and visually impaired people. The project is based at the Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre, SW18 2HJ. The project runs on Thursdays between 11am – 3pm. Volunteers will have responsibility for greeting and helping to guide Service Users around the facility, assisting service users during classes and liaising with the Community Project Manager. Sighted guide training will be provided by BlindAid.

Time Commitment

The project will run for a year in total, but the classes will be split into terms of 12 weeks each. So we would require a minimum of 1 term's commitment.

It is a 10 minute walk from Clapham Junction (exit by Brighton Yard, then continue up St John's Hill until the Centre is on your right) Nearest Bus Stop: Marcilly Road (on St John’s Hill) 170, 39, 156, 87, 337 and 37.
