The role of referral and drop in volunteer will be to support the Referrals and Storage Coordinator
- Corresponding with referral agencies and people who use the service via phone/email and arranging check ins for people storing at the service. - Storing and retrieving luggage and recording belongings in taken and leave folder - Maintain accurate, up-to-date records using our digital systems (Salesforce, databases, etc.). - Ensure that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances. - Support the service’s efforts to maintain a clean and organised space for people who use the service and staff alike.

Working in a small, but busy service, we are seeking someone who has the following skills: - Good interpersonal skills: the ability to welcome people in a friendly and efficient manner and work in 1:1 interviews as well as have good telephone skills/email administration - Ability to recognise and respond calmly to tense or escalating situations, using effective de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone. - Passion for the service and empathy for those who use it - Administrative skills: the ability to work, when trained, to established referral systems - Computer Skills: Ability to use Word/Excel/Scannable App/Email Servers - Previous sector volunteering is highly desirable but not required
Volunteers at Street Storage can expect the following: - Shadow the staff managing referrals for the first month to ensure understanding of the systems and full training. - Street Storage induction and training (including information provided on the history and mission of the charity/the service we provide/aims/objectives - Detailed Training on referral system and procedures, expectations, rules. - Volunteer will receive collaboration and support throughout volunteering period. - We will aim to provide group Ian Bourne Aggressive Behaviour Training to develop skills working with and for a vulnerable client group - Volunteer supervisions every two months - Travel and lunch expenses provided
