Volunteer Hospice Driver

This volunteer role is to provide ad-hoc transport to and from our children's hospice.
This volunteer role is to provide ad-hoc transport to life-limited children and families, and bereaved families to our hospice in Hampton or occasionally other venues where care is being provided in the community. This is so our families can access our outstanding care services, including counselling, therapies, events and our hospice facilities where otherwise they would not be able to due to lack of available transport.
Driving (must have full driving license)

Duties and key responsibilities • To transport SSCH families, in one of our vehicles, in a safe and appropriate manner at agreed times. • To provide a warm and welcoming greeting to families so they feel comfortable. • To ensure that passengers are secure in the vehicle as per legal requirements. • To adhere to all SSCH policies including Safeguarding, Lone working and Professional Boundaries. • To communicate in a timely manner any concerns relating to the families. • To attend all mandatory training for the role including updates when required. • To inform SSCH immediately if there are any changes to your health or medical circumstances. Essential Skills and experience • Aged 21 or above with a full driver’s licence and a minimum of 3 years driving experience. • Own a smart phone which will be required for navigation and making any necessary calls. • Friendly and reliable. • Flexibility and understanding that plans may change at the last minute. • Excellent communication skills. • Able to work confidently within boundaries, adhering to SSCH confidentiality policy. • We will undertake a Full enhanced DBS for this role .
• Full training and Induction for the volunteer role. • To make a valuable and worthwhile contribution to the services we provide • Ongoing Support from a line manager and the Volunteer Development team. • Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our volunteer policy. • A monthly volunteer newsletter with news about the charity and any ad-hoc volunteering opportunities. • The possibility to switch volunteer roles if you decide that you would like to try something different. • An invite to our Volunteer thank you events. • An opportunity to provide feedback via line manager, our feedback forms, surveys and our Volunteer Forum.
