Detailed Description

Role title- Volunteer Children with disabilities support worker. To support young people with both mental and physical disabilities conduct and achieve through activities. To build and maintain relationships with service users, creating an open flow of communication between volunteers and service users. Support service users to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions in the environment. Create opportunities for service users to build friendships within the group, encouraging inclusion within the community. Encourage a level of social inclusion with those who suffer from communicative difficulties. Ensure a level of safeguarding is being provided to the young people attending. Being able to adapt their approach to each individual and their level of need. Ensuring a level of dignity for each service user in the centre. Maintaining a level of confidentiality. Ability to escalate matters to management when needed. A level of compassion for the needs of each service user attending the session. The ability to work with minimal supervision. be able to work as part of a team Be able to demonstrate a level of safeguarding knowledge. Ensure the centre is ready for service users to attend as well as make sure the centre is left in a reasonable condition ready for the next session to take place. Be able to communicate to the team and share relevant information when needed. Be able to log progress and store data confidentially. We are looking at running sessions on every other Thursday, a start date has not been established yet, but the plans are for 14-18 year olds, who are slightly more able as they are the ones who seem to fall through the gaps in terms of being offered services. We aim that sessions will run from 5pm-8pm.
