Detailed Description

We are working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Unity Works to deliver high quality volunteering experiences for adults with learning disabilities to continue their skill development journey post College and through their adult life. Without the valuable role of the Supported Volunteering Buddy people with more complex learning disabilities would not be able to access volunteering opportunities which provide a valuable space to build individual’s confidence, social skills and enable them to engage with their local community. You may be providing buddy support on a short term basis helping individuals settle into their volunteering role or you may be supporting someone longer term to access a regular volunteering opportunity depending on the need of the client. This role would be suitable for people with flexibility during the day and an interest in supporting people with learning disabilities to access their local community. • To provide practical and emotional support to your buddy while they are engaged in their volunteering activity, supporting them to comply with charity rules and regulations • To meet with buddies at their home address/ or pre-arranged location to provide support and assistance to travel to pre-arranged appointment • To chaperone and support buddies back to their homes/ pre-arranged location • To identify (if needed) issues or concerns that the buddy may be experiencing and feedback to the Supported Development Project Worker • To volunteer within the boundaries of the Volunteer Centre Greenwich policies and procedures • To feedback any issues or potential issues to the Supported Development Project Worker
