Meet Me at the Albany - Volunteer
Entelechy Arts
Support our members at our over 65s arts and social club, Tuesday's at the Albany, Deptford
Meet Me.. is led by a vibrant and diverse community of previously isolated older people, who come together weekly to run a cross-art form social and creative programme to make friends, be creative, advocate for themselves, and contribute to the vibrant cultural life of Lewisham. We are seeking volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to help support out weekly sessions in person and over the phone. Volunteers get involved with all aspects of our sessions and are a vital part of our Meet Me... community.

There is no expectation to have an previous creative experience. We are looking for people who are: – Personable and Friendly – Listening skills: these are really important to connect and work with our members and ensure their safety – Experience working with older people or interest in supporting older people and their creativity – however previous experience is not essential – Adaptable and Flexible: sometimes the activities might need to change and our volunteers need to be open to some different ways of approaching things in the sessions – Some of our volunteers like to share their own creativity with Meet Me members, however there is no expectation that volunteers have any creative experience
Find out what it is like from a current volunteer! https://entelechyarts.org/blog/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-volunteer-christine/ Our volunteers enjoy being part of our Meet Me community, making new friends with fellow volunteers and connecting with local older people. Volunteers gain experience in the running of arts engagement projects and have opportunities to support artists to run sessions. We are sometimes able to offer free or discounted tickets to events at the Albany, Deptford Lounge and community partners.
Ideally we would welcome volunteers on a weekly basis on a Tuesday either in the morning, the afternoon or for the full day. But we understand this isn't always possible so can work on a fortnightly basis and happy to have a conversation with new volunteers about their availability. We would look for support on our phone calls which can be done from a remote location, weekly on a Monday afternoon and fortnightly on a Wednesday afternoon. We occasionally have ad hoc trips and visit on Wednesday and Thursdays.
