Merton libraries
Merton libraries are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help support our outdoor events this summer! Join us at Mitcham Carnival, Canons House & Grounds and Morden Park in July and August for some exciting events.
Merton libraries are actively involved in the vibrant community life of the borough, supporting exciting outreach events like Mitcham Carnival, summer festivals, and local fairs. These events are a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Library and Heritage Service, its extensive facilities, and diverse range of services. This summer, the libraries will also be hosting a series of engaging events and activities at the beautiful Canons House & Grounds and at Morden Park throughout July and August.

Art & Craft, Organising & Planning
Reliable, confident and responsible individual, with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with library staff, other volunteers and members of the public – inclusive of all ages, races, cultures and abilities. A basic understanding of how the Library Service operates, either in general terms or in the candidate's personal experience. Previous experience of outreach work or working within the community desirable but not essential.
Work within a reputable organisation that offers a friendly and supportive environment where your efforts and ideas are valued. Make a difference, benefiting your local community. Build and develop valuable skills through your experience and training/learning opportunities. Enhance the 'experience' section of your CV. Receive recognition through a reference (given upon request after completing a minimum of 50 hours of volunteering) and celebration events.
Time commitment is flexible and will depend on when the outreach activity is required. This may include some weekends and evenings. Most of out outreach events take place in July and August and on average this will involve 2-3hrs per week.
