Do you love showing young children the small wonders of nature? Do you enjoy being outdoors in all weathers? Our Park Explorers Leaders plan and deliver weekly sessions to visiting under 5s with their parents/carers in the grounds of Morden Hall Park.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteer leaders to inspire the next generation to enjoy nature and help it to thrive! This role involves: > Creating and leading a programme of exciting outdoor activities for children aged from 2 - 5 years and their parents/carers. > Setting up for sessions, using and maintaining resources and equipment appropriately, and ensuring that it is returned to its proper storage place after use. > Monitoring the quality of the work through evaluation and informal feedback. > Managing the daily finance of the activities including taking payments, recording and following financial procedures. > Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors. > Sharing what you have learnt about our local nature, beauty and history and how it is being looked after by the National Trust for everyone, for ever. > Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g .Covid This role will require an enhanced criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), which we can arrange (at no cost to you) if you do not already have a recent one. We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us. So, volunteers will: • Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely. • Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering. • Have remote access to support, news and rotas via our volunteer website. This role will suit you if you are... > Available each Monday in term time approximately 9am - 12pm (this allows for set-up, pack down and planning in addition to the 45 minute session itself). > Able to commit to lead/co-lead sessions regularly, as all sessions are volunteer-led. > Friendly and enjoy working with families. > Enthusiastic about being outdoors, helping to lead activities that get young children hands on to explore and learn about the natural world. > Looking to develop your experience of hands-on early years learning, or you already have a teaching background and would love to share existing skills. > A strong communicator with good customer service skills. > Able to take initiative when volunteering alone or as part of a team. All National Trust volunteers will be asked to: • Respect and uphold the National Trust values whilst volunteering with us. • Complete training required of all NT volunteers and any role specific training. • Adhere to relevant policies and processes including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity. You’d also be joining Europe’s largest conservation charity and the wider National Trust team proudly looking after 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of land, over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments, gardens, parks and nature reserves (including lighthouses, villages, pubs and a gold mine!).
