Digital Champion Volunteer

Do you want to help people to gain digital skills? Are you good with a phone, tablet, laptop or computer? Are you patient, want to learn new skills and give back to the local community? We need someone to act as a 'digital buddy', supporting people living in a retirement housing complex with their phones/tablets/computers.

Detailed Description

Do you want to help people to gain digital skills? Are you good with a phone, tablet, laptop or computer? Are you patient, want to learn new skills and give back to the local community? We are looking for someone with a good understanding of how to use computers, smart phones and tablets to give peer support to people who are new to these devices. The volunteer role is based in a retirement housing scheme on a Wednesday 2 pm-4pm. We are looking for volunteers who can help on a weekly or fortnightly basis. We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 12 sessions. Please only apply if you are serious about volunteering, live in the UK and within easy travelling distance. You will help people to do things like: * use Google * use WhatsApp * sort and use phone apps * organise photos and files * attach a document to an email

Good IT Skills

Why these skills are required

You need a good level of basic computer skills, but you don't have to be an IT genius. Much more important is having enthusiasm and patience to spend some time helping others to get online.
