Client Support Volunteer A wonderful opportunity to make a difference to the life of an older person in the local community. 5 hours a week 9am to 2pm Wednesdays or Thursdays Make the day entertaining and fun for members. Listen, Learn and enjoy the experience of working with older people. Build a network of friends within the Merton charity community.

Detailed Description

Friends In St Helier (F.I.S.H) is a charity that promotes wellbeing and independent living for Merton’s over 50s. We provide safe and welcoming spaces where the socially isolated can meet, make friends, and enjoy a meal. The club sessions also include varied activities for members. The Role Client Support Volunteer 5 hours a week 9am to 2pm Wednesday or Thursday A wonderful opportunity to make a difference to the life of an older person in the local community. Assist with: • Setting up the room pre members arrival • Serve Teas and Coffees • The cook with preparation of food and washing the dishes • Members arriving and leaving to their transport • The Centre Manager by running pre-lunch activities • With cleaning the common places after members have departed • Members on day trips Training will be provided in a working environment. Considerations: • Able to work with the elderly, staff and other volunteers • Must be motivated and reliable. • Must ensure health and safety in the kitchen and dining areas are met. • Must work and abide with our safeguarding policy. The role is ideal for: People looking to volunteer for a few hours weekly, supporting the elderly in the community Skills useful for the role Good time keeping, Teamworking, listening, talking to others, Organising and having fun.

The 470 bus stops at the Willows (stop B, C) on Central Road but not on Sunday. The 93 and 80 stops on London Road (stop MC) and is a 10 minutes walk. The 164, 157, 118, 201 stops at Morden Hall Road (stop P, R) and is a similar distance to walk.
