Blether Buddy Befrienders Needed

Can you spare one or two hours a week, or fortnight and spend time with a ScotsCare client? Your gift of time, and companionship, would make the world of difference to someone who is lonely or socially isolated. If you are friendly and caring, with good conversation and listening skills we would love to hear from you. A 6-month commitment or longer is preferred for this role.

Detailed Description

You could be having a friendly chat in our client's home, going for a walk in a park, or around the shops, having teas and chats in a coffee shop, or visiting places of interest together. Giving someone who feels alone, or is socially isolated, the simple gift of time & companionship can make the world of difference to their sense of wellbeing and your meetings will be something they can look forward to. This is an easy, very meaningful way to help someone and is immensely rewarding and fun! Our clients are adults of all ages, mostly 60+

Why these skills are required

No experience is required. More importantly, you will be confident and enjoy spending time with people, honest, reliable and caring, with good communication and listening skills.

We also: - reimburse out of pocket expenses for travel, refreshments and agreed activities - run social events - produce a regular newsletter for our volunteers For volunteers who are job seeking, we can provide references following some commitment to the role, and potentially match you to one of our professional volunteers, who could help you to improve your CV, or take you through some interview practice at the office, or online.

Time Commitment

A couple of hours once a week or fortnight, any day from 1pm onwards.
