Do you love trees and being outdoors? Help plant, maintain and improve the trees and woodland areas whilst learning new skills in tree identification and practical management. This is a great opportunity to build your knowledge of trees, from identification to woodland management. The Tree Wardens support the trees in Sutton's Parks, carrying out a range of activities including surveying, recording, planting, pruning and inspecting for diseases. With 1000s of trees to look after in the parks the volunteer team provide valuable support to the borough's Tree Officers and Park Friends groups. No previous knowledge is required. Training opportunities, both formal and informal, are provided across the course of each year, with additional learning on the go. Tree Wardens meet to carry out weekly tasks on a Tuesday mornings 10-12pm, as well as two Saturday sessions a month from 10-12pm. There is also independent work, allowing volunteers to be involved around their availability. The Tree Warden Scheme is a national initiative supported by The Tree Council. The Tree Warden scheme provides great well-being benefits through being physical and active outdoors. There are some great training opportunities provided throughout the year. Tea/Coffee/Biscuits available in our volunteer room!
There are weekly sessions but you are not committed to attend every session.

Saturday sessions take place at Beddington Park. Tuesday sessions take place across the borough.
The main hub for the Tree Wardens is in the volunteer room near the Pavilion Cafe in Beddington Park, but we also carry out work on other sites in the borough. Beddington park is accessible by bus routes 407 and 410 (Croydon Road/Church Road), 463 (Croydon Road and Guy Road), 455 (Guy Road) and 151 (London Road, Beddington Park) Car parking is available by the Pavilion Cafe.
