Detailed Description

Voluntary Action Islington (VAI) offers a wide range of services for local organisations, small groups, and volunteers at all stages of their development. We are working for a fairer Islington by supporting community and voluntary action. The Information & Communications volunteer will: - Assist with Voluntary Action Islington’s communications including website, e-newsgroup, newsletter and social media to promote our work. - Gather and disseminate information and resources relevant to Islington’s diverse Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS). - Provide support to Voluntary Action Islington’s core operational functions including our capacity building support to Islington’s VCS Main tasks will include: - Maintaining VAI’s Google Group and make use of it to post information relevant to Islington’s VCS organisations. - Keeping VAI’s website up to date and contributing to developing it so it is an effective tool in communicating with Islington’s VCS. - Updating the website events’ calendar with the service managers, and ensuring events are publicised through the relevant channels. - Designing and producing key marketing materials to promote VAI’s services - Sourcing relevant resources for inclusion in VAI’s on-line newsletters. - Assisting staff and volunteers to contribute to our social media communications and maximise VAI’s use of social media. - Assisting in the production of quarterly performance reports on website, e-communication, social media, newsletter. Induction and training will be provided. Commitment: Ideally 2 days per week x 4 hours per day (can be discussed) for 4 months. We are a friendly team of staff and volunteers based in a lovely volunteer organisations' hub next to Kings Cross. We are looking for a volunteer who is dynamic, creative, organised, a passionate communicator person an a great team player, who also is: • IT literate, with knowledge of using social media and design and digital software as well as standard office programs • Creative mind and with an eye for graphic design • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently, effectively and creatively

Voluntary Action Islington is approximately 10 minutes walk from King’s Cross Station Buses that run along Pentonville Road include 30, 73, 214. Additional buses that stop at King’s Cross Station include 10, 17, 45, 46, 63, 91, 259, 390. Trains to King’s Cross, St Pancras or Euston. Piccadilly, Circle, Victoria, Hammersmith and City, Northern and Metropolitan lines all pass through King’s Cross Station.
