Volunteer tutors needed! Would you like to make a real difference to someone's life? Would you like the opportunity to help someone improve their English? Do you enjoy meeting different people and learning about different cultures? Learn English at Home is a small local charity working with Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston residents who do not have English as their first language, to help improve their English language skills, reduce isolation and support them to integrate into their local community. Full training provided. Following a successful interview volunteers will receive a bespoke online training course designed for our volunteer tutor role. The course will be 6 weekly x 2.5 hour sessions and will cover the skills needed to support a client to improve their English as well as LEAH policies and procedures. Training is planned for November 2024, February 2025 and June 2025. There will be ongoing support, guidance and supervision as well as opportunities to go on further training and development courses. We have opportunities for both in person tutoring and tutoring online (over Zoom)

Full training and support is provided. All you need is commitment, a good understanding of English and a willingness to help people. We positively encourage people with English as a second language to apply as volunteers - No previous experience is necessary.
Through providing one-to-one lessons to a client on a weekly basis, you'll find your own horizons broaden. Many LEAH tutors have gone on to qualify as ESOL or EFL teachers, inspired by the experiences they have had as a LEAH volunteer tutor. Others have grown in confidence, made friends and taken great satisfaction from the very real difference they've made to someone's life.
You will need to commit to one lesson a week for a minimum of six months. Some lesson planning and preparation each week will also be needed.
