Could you help bereaved people? The Islington Bereavement Service needs volunteers to befriend bereaved people. You don’t need any previous experience, just good communication and listening skills, empathy and flexibility.
The Islington Bereavement Service is a community based peer support service. We train and supervise volunteers from all walks of life to provide ten sessions of one to one bereavement support to adults residing in Islington who have experienced bereavement. The role does not require any clinical qualifications, and is based on compassionate listening, life experience, and the ability to provide emotional support. What commitment do you need to give? - You must be able to offer 6-8 hours of your time per month - You need to attend a 3 day induction training - We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
