Trustee and Treasurer for Elleray Hall

We need to recruit a Trustee with financial management expertise, to act as our Treasurer. This is a voluntary position and would suit someone with empathy towards and an understanding of the needs of the older members of our community, especially those who may otherwise feel lonely or isolated.
The Treasurer’s Responsibilities include the following: • Ensuring that the organisation’s funds are used in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association, Management Committee decisions and our funders’ conditions. • Ensuring that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place. • Keeping the Management Committee updated and informed on all financial matters. • Maintaining a record of all assets and liabilities. • Liaising with our bank in relation to the financial affairs of the organisation and becoming a signatory on CAF and our appointed Bank's Accounts • Preparing Management Accounts, Budgets, Forecasts and Cash fFows as required. • Advising on the Charity’s reserves and updating the existing policy. • Being responsible, once the budget is set, for maintaining the overall costs within budget and ensuring the income stream is maintained. Where the income stream is reduced or increased to be responsible to the Management Committee for the production of a revised Budget or Forecast. • Preparing Draft Annual accounts for the Auditor’s preparation of the Final Annual Accounts in accordance with the Charity Commission and Companies House Law. • Ensuring that the Accounts are reviewed and agreed by the Trustees before being submitted to the Auditors and presented at the Annual General Meeting. • Ensuring all legal requirements and legislation around Charities, Companies, Taxation and Money Laundering. are complied with • Liaison with designated staff on financial matters. • To exercise the authority to alter these procedures for a temporary period, in emergency situations. Whilst the Treasurer’s responsibilities covers all aspects of the role and although a strong level of commitment is required, there is input from Staff and Trustees, so the time required to fulfil the position is not as extensive as the job description might suggest. Skills and Experience The Trustees would welcome applications from persons with an accountancy background preferably but not essential with experience of Charity and Company Law and to include: • I.T. Skills and experience of financial management. • Well-developed analysis skills. • Ability to communicate clearly. • Good interpersonal skills.

We have a small, friendly staff team and wonderful volunteers who work well together and who are comitted to the well being of our members. We are looking for a Treasurer who shares our aim and values - and wishes to make a difference in our community.
The role has a flexible time commitment, and is driven by the requirements of the role and the pre-arranged Trustee and Board meetings, when financial reports need to have been prepared, reviewed and delivered. Some of the work can be done from home or otherwise 'remotely' - although it will also be necessary to spend some time working with the small team in Elleray Hall itself. . Specifically, the Treasurer is expected to attend a Trustees’ meeting for approx. two hours every two months. and will need to spend additional time overseeing the accounts, preparing reports as outlined above and communicating with our auditors as necessary.

By Bus Bus routes 33, R68, 281, 285 and X26 all stop just a couple of hundred yards from Elleray Hall. Get off the bus at Broad Street and look for Boots the chemist. Elleray Road is just opposite it. By Train - Teddington railway station is close by.
