Marketing Trustee
Marble Hill Playcentres
In our 50th anniversary year, Marble Hill Adventure Playground and One O'Clock Club is as important to local children as ever, offering a unique, exciting and inclusive environment for adventurous play that allows children freedom and fun while building resilience. Trustees help maintain a clear focus on the purpose of the charity, make decisions, and have fun too! We are looking for a marketing and communications trustee, to replace a departing member of the board.
For exactly 50 years, Marble Hill Adventure Playground and One O'Clock Club has provided children with a unique and exciting environment to play, create and interact, with our distinctive towering rope swings, zip wire and outdoor play equipment in the beautiful landscape of Marble Hill Park in Twickenham. Our Adventure Playground (for 5 -15 year olds), One O’Clock Club (for under 5’s) and SENsational Saturday Club (for children with additional needs) encourage children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in outdoor adventurous play and express themselves physically, mentally and socially, whilst having fun. The day to day work of the Playcentres is conducted by a team of trained playworkers, via our subcontractor, Brilliant Play. We also licence a nursery on our site, Mandarin Ducklings, which caters for children from two to five years of age on weekdays, all year round. The current trustees have a range of interests, with knowledge of safeguarding, finance, law, architecture, fundraising, and children and young people. We welcome new members with different perspectives from any part of our community - the only requirement being enthusiasm for our core purpose of ensuring outdoor adventurous play is accessible to all. We meet on the third Tuesday of every month in Twickenham for two hours, to review papers, discuss the current position of the charity, make collective decisions and set actions. We also have subcommittees for marketing, for site renewal, and some other shorter-term meetings. Most trustees spend one or two days per month on their role, including committee attendance. The trustee role is voluntary, but expenses such as travel or babysitting costs can be reimbursed. Meetings may be attended virtually, though in person attendance at least occasionally is encouraged, for the benefit of the board and individual trustees. We are looking for a trustee with a marketing or communications background, to support the small staff team to conduct effective marketing including social media.

No previous board experience is required but we would particularly welcome any interest or background in marketing or communications. All trustees must have: • A commitment to Marble Hill Playcentres and its beneficiaries • A willingness to attend Board meetings and contribute to projects and subcommittees • Relationship-building skills • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team and work outside your own area of interest • Patience, open-ness, and integrity
MHPC is a high-profile charity and this is a particularly exciting time to join us as there remains lots of scope to shape the partnerships we build, the services we expand, and the programme of site renovation, in consultation with children and their families. We provide a full induction and periodic training relevant to our aims. Joining our board is an excellent way to build leadership skills, develop diverse relationships across the community and gain a massive sense of satisfaction.
Most trustees spend 4 - 8 hours per month on their role, including Board attendance.
