Would you like to know more about local wellbeing services and initiatives? Are you interested in networking, promoting services and connecting people? This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Islington Wellbeing Network. As part of your volunteering role, you will develop lots of skills and knowledge in a wide range of areas, including administration, marketing & promotion, research & reporting, minute-taking, and, organising events.

Detailed Description

VAI offers a wide range of services for local organisations, small groups, and volunteers at all stages of their development. We are working for a fairer Islington by supporting community and voluntary action. As an Islington Local Wellbeing Network Project Support Volunteer your role will involve a variety of tasks such as administration, research, minute taking, reporting, helping with events. Administration - Minute taking, ensuring that key discussions, decisions, and action items are captured for future reference. You should write in an objective and neutral tone, focusing on facts and avoiding personal opinions or interpretations. - Responding to general queries about the Local Wellbeing Networks. - Updating VAI’s relevant website pages. - Supporting the Community Development Manager in various aspects of research activities. Helping with events Before the event - Designing and producing key marketing materials to promote the Local Wellbeing Networks. - Promoting the events on different channels. - Helping to prepare all relevant resources (agenda, schedule, minutes, presentations, attendance list). - Contacting attendees to confirm their final availability and resolve potential queries. During the event: - Minute taking. - Creating a positive and welcoming environment for participants as they arrive at the meeting or event. - Maintaining an accurate attendance list. - Capturing high-quality photographs and videos. - Collecting any feedback forms or surveys distributed. After the event: - Presenting the minutes taken at events in an objective and neutral tone, focusing on facts and avoiding personal opinions or interpretations. - Clarifying any unclear points with meeting participants, if necessary, to avoid errors or misunderstandings. - Conducting follow-up work with attendees, including collecting feedback and helping with case studies. Occasionally, you will provide support to other Voluntary Action Islington services, including the Volunteer Centre Islington.

Why these skills are required

You will be mainly using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Calendar, Excel), the internet, surveys, social media channels (Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), Canva, Image Library… We are looking for volunteers who have these skills: - A friendly, supportive and non-judgemental attitude. - Good listening and note-taking skills, with attention to detail to accurately record key information. - IT literate, with knowledge of using Microsoft 365 social media, design and digital software. - Organisational skills to manage multiple meeting minutes, attendee lists and materials. - Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. We are a friendly team of staff and volunteers based in a lovely volunteer organisations' hub next to Kings Cross. Register your interest if you think you would be interested. This role is suitable for people who would like to gain experience in an office environment, meetings and community events.

Time Commitment

Preferably, we would like volunteers who can commit for 3–4 times a week (4 hours per day), until the end of July 2024.

Voluntary Action Islington 200A Pentonville Road Occasionally this opportunity can take across the London Borough of Islington, and rarely in other neighbour boroughs.

Buses that run along Pentonville Road include 30, 73, 214. Additional buses that stop at King’s Cross Station include 10, 17, 45, 46, 63, 91, 259, 390. Trains to King’s Cross, St Pancras or Euston. Tube: Piccadilly, Circle, Victoria, Hammersmith and City, Northern and Metropolitan lines all pass through King’s Cross Station. Car parking: Parking meters in the surrounding streets.
