Mental Health Befriender
BEfriend
Support someone who has become isolated because of a mental health problem to become more connected.
1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem each year. Mental health problems can often lead to isolation and chronic loneliness, which in turn can negatively impact mental health. It's a cycle that we want to break. Volunteers are usually matched to just 1 client who they will support for 1 year. Our volunteers: Visit once a week for 1-2 hours; Be a friendly, listening ear; Support someone to engage in meaningful activities; Support someone as they regain confidence and start to make new connections.
