Our volunteer drivers support our registered clients by providing their own car to take those who find transport alternatives like public or hospital transport, to doctor, hospital and dental appointments; social gatherings or other similar events that they would otherwise miss out on.
Are you wanting to give back something to your local community? Looking to offer support to older people and those with limited capacity to get out and about? Our volunteer drivers support our registered clients by providing their own car to take those who find transport alternatives like public or hospital transport, to doctor, hospital and dental appointments; social gatherings or other similar events that they would otherwise miss out on. We reimburse petrol expenses and offer full guidance/training in the role requirements. We have an amazing team of volunteers who currently step up to this challenge and they find the role very rewarding, often forming a connection to our client who they may support on a regular basis. Demand for this service is very high and without new volunteers we will find that we will not be able to meet the volume of requests for journeys. If you feel you would like to be part of this team, please do get in touch and we will explore the best arrangement that suits your own personal availability. We offer transport throughout the week, including weekends.
Driving (must have full driving license)
UK Driving Licence, People Skills
You will need a general level of health and fitness as this is a relatively, physically active role. A keen eye for health and safety issues would be helpful but we can offer full guidance on this. Age should not be a barrier to this role as many of our volunteers are over the age of 65.
This role puts you at the heart of your community, this can be exceptionally rewarding experience for those who choose this role. Many of our volunteer drivers have stayed with us for a substantial amount of time since they found it to be such a rewarding experience.
