Volunteer reading coaches

Read Easy

At Read Easy Hackney, we help adults learn to read. We are currently recruiting new Coaches to be trained at the end of September. Once trained, you will be matched with a reader who you will meet with twice a week for 30 minutes in an approved venue. Anyone who can read fluently can be a reading coach as the reading scheme is designed for anyone to use. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a life-changing difference to individuals in your community. Full training and support are provided.

Detailed Description

Read Easy Hackney is affiliated to Read Easy UK, a national organisation that helps adults to learn to read. Trained volunteer reading coaches are matched one-to-one with non- or beginner readers. Read Easy Hackney is the first London-based group of Read Easy UK and currently has more than 25 reading pairs. We are now looking to recruit reading coaches who will receive online training (over two Saturdays, for 3 hours per session). Anyone who can read fluently and has the time to spare can apply to become a Read Easy Reading Coach. You do not need special qualifications as the reading scheme is designed for anyone to use. Reading Coaches are asked to commit to meeting with their reader twice a week for about 30 minutes at a time. Becoming a reading coach can be a life-changing experience for the volunteer as well as the new reader. Full training and support is provided.
