The University College Hospital (UCH) Cancer Fund supports cancer care, treatment and educational research at UCLH, over and above what the NHS funds. Our main aim is to make a difference to all cancer patients by investing in projects that enhance our patients’ and carers' experiences, while advancing our services through funding for additional medical equipment and staff training. We are looking to recruit a volunteer to support cancer outpatients and the staff who care for them during late clinics at the hospital. By providing teas, coffees, snacks, these ‘Anti Boredom’ volunteers will provide some comfort to people, while also offering welcome distractions such as newspapers, magazines, games and creative activities to pass the time. Liaising with patients, engaging with them and helping them learn new skills Helping to promote anti-boredom activities and maintain these materials for patients. Promoting the UCH Cancer Fund within the Hospital Introducing new ways to engage with patients and their families. Developing your own ideas to improve the programme, with guidance from the Creative Specialist Promoting the Support & Information Service at UCLH

What is in it for you

We do not want volunteers to be out of pocket for the volunteer work they do at UCLH therefore all attempts will be made to reimburse out-of pocket expenses. Volunteers are entitled to the following expenses: • Out of pocket travel expenses (daily upper limit of £4.50) that show travelling to and from home to the Trust hospital sites. • Reimbursement of meals or refreshment if you volunteer over a lunch time period and for over 4 hours. There is a maximum limit of £4.50
