Read Easy Hackney is a small but very impactful charity that supports adults living in Hackney to learn to read. Since becoming established in 2018, we have supported over 30 local residents to improve their literacy skills. We are now seeking a fundraiser to take over from the present post-holder who has been in the role for two years. As Fundraiser, you will work closely with the Team Leader and Treasurer and, as a member of the Management Team, you will be expected to attend monthly team meetings, which take place on a Wednesday evening. (There are no meetings in January or July and August.) To be effective in this role, you will need to commit a few hours per month to writing applications but when you do so is largely at your discretion. Thanks to successful fundraising, RE Hackney's bank balance is in good health. By taking up this role, you will be joining a team of 9 other enthusiastic and committed team members, and we are convinced you will quickly build the enthusiasm to seek out the funding we require to maintain and grow our services in Hackney.
While previous experience of fundraising may be an asset, essential skills for this role include the ability to: - seek out/refresh opportunities for funding - write clear and concise funding bids - put together simple budgets, - meet deadlines - be a self-starter!
- Make a life-changing difference to individuals and their families in the local community - Extend your social network and make a new group of friends - Put to use existing skills and develop new ones - Be part of an exciting project, the first of its kind in London.
