Friends of Aspen Court
As a Volunteer Befriender, you will visit and interact with an older resident of Aspen Court Care Home, through a range of activities selected by mutual agreement. You will provide regular and reliable visits and befriending. Together, you will carry out activities such reading, writing letters, chatting, music, baking, cooking, gardening, playing games and accompanying resident on trips out. You only need to offer 3 hours a week of your time for this role.
Aspen Court Care Home in Poplar provides residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinson's. As a Befriender, you will visit and interact with a resident of Aspen Court Care Home through a range of activities, selected by mutual agreement. You will provide regular and reliable visits and befriending. Together, you will carry out activities such as reading, writing letters, chatting, music, baking, cooking, gardening, playing games and accompanying resident on trips out. The role requires no more than 3 hours' commitment per week on any daytime, including weekends (no evenings). The role is open to anyone over 16. It is a fantastic opportunity for anyone hoping to develop a career in social care, especially health and social students, or anyone who wants to support older people in the community.
