The Stroke Association
As a Community Connector, you will be making links with your local community to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association. By speaking to people in your community, you can help people understand the effects of stroke on lives and help to improve the experience of those affected by stoke. Tasks: • You will be liaising with staff in the local area to represent the Stroke Association at local events, giving presentations, hosting stands or fundraising events.
The Stroke Association's vision is for there to be fewer strokes, and for people affected by stroke to get the help they need to live the best life they can. Our core purpose is to be the trusted voice of stroke survivors and their families. We want to drive better outcomes in stroke prevention, treatment and lifelong support for everyone affected by stroke. As a Community Connector, you will be making links with your local community to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association. By speaking to people in your community, you can help people understand the effects of stroke on lives and help to improve the experience of those affected by stoke. Tasks: - You will be liaising with staff in the local area to represent the Stroke Association at local events. This could be giving a presentation, hosting a stand, or attending a fundraising event. - Sharing our resources, like ‘FAST’ cards and leaflets and promoting the work we do, such as our Helpline, our campaigns and our support groups. • If you are a stroke survivor or carer can share your own experience of stroke to inspire and help others. However, you do not have to have personal experience of stroke for this role.

This is the role for you if you are: • Passionate about helping people learn more about stroke. • Able to get out and about. • Comfortable using technology like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. • Enjoy interacting with people.
- Helping improve care for stroke and increase people’s knowledge about stroke. - Learning and developing new skills. - Meeting new people, building a network and engaging with your local community. - An opportunity to get together (either face-to-face/digitally) with other volunteers from London. - Invitations to join national volunteer events to network and share experiences. - All out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed including travel, refreshments, etc. Volunteers must retain receipts in order to get reimbursed.
